The festival runs on volunteers. There are roles for everyone: MCs, cash handling and EFTPOS, sound, stage managing, and giving a travelling performer a bed for the weekend.

The Albany International Folk 'n' Shanty Festival already has an international following, with groups and visitors from all over the world keen to visit and perform.

Containers for Change
Containers for Change is WA's recycling scheme that lets community groups fundraise. Every eligible container is worth 10c, and it adds up fast.
Save your empties for the festival and help keep the oceans clean at the same time. It’s a shore thing.

- Collect your containers. Most plastic and glass bottles, drink cartons, cans and pouches from 150ml to 3L – look for the 10c mark.
- Take them to a refund point. Locals can use Albany, Spencer Park or Denmark. Find a return point.
- Donate your refund by giving our member number.
